sunday-schedule

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released an implementation guide to help members and leaders prepare for the changes to the Sunday class meeting schedule that will begin on September 6, 2026.

The changes that the First Presidency announced on March 30, 2026, include weekly 25-minute Sunday School, Relief Society, elders quorum, Young Women and Aaronic Priesthood quorum meetings, and youth lessons. Also announced was a youth curriculum based on the updated For the Strength of Youth: A Guide for Making Choices.

First Week of August

In addition to the implementation guide, instructional videos and other resources will be available during the first week of August at sunday.ChurchofJesusChrist.org.

Sunday, August 30, 2026

Youth (including Primary children who will turn 12 in 2027), their parents, and youth leaders will watch an instructional video “For the Strength of Youth Curriculum” and discuss section 3 of the implementation guide. In this meeting, they will learn more about the new curriculum and how to use the For the Strength of Youth Guide and the supporting curriculum materials found in the For the Strength of Youth magazine (available monthly beginning with the September 2026 issue). Families and youth leaders can subscribe to the free printed version of the For the Strength of Youth magazine at magazines.ChurchofJesusChrist.org or access it digitally in Gospel Library.

Adults who do not attend the youth meeting will participate in a fifth-Sunday lesson under the direction of local leaders. Younger Primary children will follow their normal schedule.

Sunday, September 6, 2026

The new schedule begins.

  • Sunday School. Youth and adults will attend 25-minute Sunday School classes, where they will watch two videos: “Sunday School” and “The Sabbath and Sacrament Meeting.” After the videos, they will discuss sections 1, 2, and 4 of the implementation guide.
  • Relief Society and Elders Quorum Meetings. During the 25-minute meetings, adults will watch the video “Relief Society and Elders Quorums,” and then discuss section 5 of the implementation guide.
  • Young Women and Aaronic Priesthood Meetings. Having discussed the changes the previous week, youth will begin using the new curriculum.
  • Primary. Primary will follow its normal schedule, now lasting 55 minutes.
