I love President Nelson. I saw a portion of this talk on Instagram this morning and immediately felt the Spirit.
I have no doubt that he genuinely believed all of the things he taught and prophesied about. He was a good man who had the respect of everyone who knew him. The spirit resonated through him as he spoke, and it was apparent that he had genuine charity and the love of Christ.
He understood something that many people today are wrestling with. He knew that there are countless people who struggle with their faith, who wonder if God is even there, who feel lost or unsure of what is true.
In his April 2019 conference address, President Nelson said:
If you are not sure you even believe in God, start there. Understand that in the absence of experiences with God, one can doubt the existence of God. So, put yourself in a position to begin having experiences with Him. Humble yourself. Pray to have eyes to see God’s hand in your life and in the world around you. Ask Him to tell you if He is really there—if He knows you. Ask Him how He feels about you. And then listen.
This counsel doesn’t demand anything, It doesn’t pressure, it simply invites. It offers a way to rediscover light by opening the smallest door of willingness. It is an invitation filled with love by a righteous man who very personally knows the Love of God, and wants to share this love with others because he knows how important this knowlege is.
