11 But he that believeth these things which I have spoken, him will I visit with the manifestations of my Spirit, and he shall know and bear record. For because of my Spirit he shall know that these things are true; for it persuadeth men to do good.
12 And whatsoever thing persuadeth men to do good is of me; for good cometh of none save it be of me. I am the same that leadeth men to all good; he that will not believe my words will not believe me–that I am; and he that will not believe me will not believe the Father who sent me. For behold, I am the Father, I am the light, and the life, and the truth of the world.

One of the key themes of the Book of Mormon that is repeated time and again is the availability of spiritual knowledge to all mankind. Nephi hit on these themes so heavily on the small plates, and I wonder if Moroni was influenced by his exposure to Nephi’s writing.

What is striking here is that we must first excercise faith in the teachings of God and then we receive a manifestation by the spirit. If we are not willing to have faith, then we cannot receive spiritual answers. If we do not make room in our hearts for belief, then the things of the spirit will be shut to us. We must remain in ignorance and darkness. On the other hand, if we open ourselves up to receiving spiritual knowledge then we will be filled. Then we can come to know and come to bear record. Then we will come to know God and Christ.
