1 And now it came to pass that according to our record, and we know our record to be true, for behold, it was a just man who did keep the record–for he truly did many miracles in the name of Jesus; and there was not any man who could do a miracle in the name of Jesus save he were cleansed every whit from his iniquity–
This verse gives the conditions that we need to see in our lives before we can expect miracles. We must be acting in the name of Christ and we must be “cleansed every whit from … iniquity.” If we are living inconsistent with God’s commandments, we can not expect to fully see his miraculous power in our lives. If our homes are not places of refuge and peace, then we will not see miracles in them. We need to purify ourselves by the power of the atonement of Christ. And as we do so, we will begin to see great miracles.
