“The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light; they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.”

I have always loved this depiction of the Savior bringing light to those in darkness. What a powerful metaphor for the reach and majesty of the ministry of the savior. Without his light, we all truly walk in darkness. Without his light, we are in the land of the shadow of death. We are dead both spiritually and temporally. Without him, we are abject and without hope. But he is the bright and shinning light. He gives us hope that cuts through the darkness and the gloom. He is the way out of prison. He is the only way.
