The 2015 LDSTech Conference scheduled for October 15 is fast approaching and with so many great session choices, you’ll wish you could be in two places at once to take it all in! If you have not looked at the schedule, many presentation topics are for all skill levels and presenters are exceptionally well qualified.

Below are session highlights to help you plan for a day of immersion in Church technology:

LDSTools App, What’s New? What’s Next? by Justin Krebs. This presentation will be fast-moving and informative as you are taught new features in the LDS Tools app, including the home and visiting teaching reports for leaders. You’ll see previews of functionality in upcoming updates, such as a refreshed user interface.

LDS Account – Looking to the Cloud by Ben Hutchins and Sherrie Cowley. Internet sourcing, data sharing, and access security are on the minds of many and a concern for every member. This presentation will teach you about the future direction of your LDS Account as it relates to third-party logins.

Tips for Finding Historical Records on FamilySearch by Andrew Lundgren. Whether you are a seasoned researcher or a novice, this session will provide valuable help for searching historical records with emphasis on US collections and Swedish research. The presenter will show how using one method yields little and then how a different approach is much more successful.

Leader and Clerk Resources (LCR) by Brian Fromm. You’ll be captivated by this presenter’s grasp of the fine points of LCR functionality as he demonstrates expanded capabilities, addressing non-standard scenarios for those who minister and manage membership information and are tasked with administering the home and visiting teachings programs in all kinds of circumstances. If you have questions specific to your role or calling, this presenter uses the tools in his own calling and will have answers for you and insight for leaders into future functionality.

A Peek into the Future: How Multiscreen and Personalization Will Impact LDS.org and Other Church Digital Platforms by Jeff Isom. Never in the history of the world has more content been available in more ways than today. The Church is wrestling with how to best provide gospel messages and helpful tools in an ever-changing digital landscape. Explore how personalization and multi-screen approaches are impacting LDS.org and other digital products.

Meetinghouse Technology – What, Why, and How? By Richard Brown and Bret Bassett. Meetinghouse internet impacts everyone, and technologies within Church buildings are becoming more available to strengthen members and administer the Church programs. The presenters will discuss webcasting, Personal Video Conferencing (PVC), and how mhtech.lds.org can provide many self-help answers, among other things. Learn how to acquire, set up, and use the standard technologies available and learn about the resources available that will save time and facilitate better communication.

Social Media Trends & How the Church is Responding to Them by Jared Covington. If you currently have an online presence or are anticipating using social media and want to be more effective in sharing your beliefs, this presentation will examine the latest trends. It will show ways the Church is modeling how to take the message of the gospel to the world in ways that are appealing, unapologetic, and non-confrontational.

Each presentation is categorized in one of three tracks: General Member, Developer, and Calling-specific. You may pick any session that piques your interest in any track.

“Idea Share” and “Birds of a Feather” will again be part of the conference, with time to present your technology innovation ideas and engage and collaborate with peers on topics of mutual interest.

Granted, it’s impossible to be in two places at once, so invite a friend to come with you or meet you there.
