Well I’m guilty of feeling entirely too self absorbed with a sprained knee that is sidelining me this week. And last week too. But I’m grateful for every person that has rushed to open a door, or carry a load for me, smiling, announcing with a sigh, “I’ve been on crutches before, it’s hard.” While their empathy may come from shared experience, one of our weekly picks explain that not all empathy is so simple or judgement free: it’s a choice.
What if we turned the lights off on the reasons we judge most often? Coke did.

Don’t feel like cleaning? A quick tutorial to knock out a messy bedroom in minutes.

Summer weddings are in full swing; do you feel the love? This love story began with secret pickles, outlasted the war and is now aging sweetly. Did your wedding look like something from a pinterest board? Probably not.  If it didn’t, would you change it if you could?  What would you say to a newly married couple if you could (but probably won’t). Here’s a way to teach about it, an object lesson about the sealing ordinance so the kids can see what you mean, and get a real feeling for what makes our relationships worth saving.

These pictures are foodie fancy. But read the descriptions for this viral instagram account; would your feelings change if you knew what it was made of? It’s fun and a total poke at the fancy molecular gastronomy restaurant culture. Another viral,  irreverent item, a sarcastic slam at those who find feeding a baby in public offensive.

Kids all over the world may be feeling thankful for folks who cared enough to make them some toy wooden cars (like 220,000).

And our world is so crazy cool. Sharks in an active volcano!

First draft poetry by Kel this week, tying into the object lesson about sealings:

Wattle

She tells Pop how his jacket looks

A bit bare around the elbows, or

Looking smart this morning.

She fusses at his collar

where the grass climbs up the stone

and she touches his name, just like she used to

pat his cheek.

How do you feel about it all this week?
