Faithfulness [shall be] the girdle of his reins.

-2 nephi 21:5

Reins=compassion and girdle=support, sustain.

There are two ways that faithfulness can make our compassion stronger.

It grows our compassion.

It also channels it. Compassion outside the service of the Lord is dangerous. Pity without judgment is a very blunt instrument to be swinging around.
