I saw a notice on one of the social networks about November being the month of THANKSgiving and challenging us to tell what we are thankful for each day of the month. So, I thought I would blog about this each day. They will be smaller than normal posts and will contain this same header.

Today, I am grateful for choices. We make literally thousands of decisions each day. Some of those are conscious, but many are unconscious decisions. Many of the decisions we make can determine other decisions. For example:

(alarm goes off at 6:00am) Do we, A. Shut it off and sleep some more? B. Shut it off and get up?
If A, we may find that the commute to work is longer because of more cars on the freeway and we may get to work later than we (or the boss) desired. If B, what do we do next?

This scenario is played over and over each day of our lives, and can get even more complex when we have even more choices to make for a particular choice. Some choices are 'no brainers' because we have been faced with them before; sometimes to the detriment. We may have chosen differently and had to face the consequences of those choices.

Our beloved prophet has stated, "Decisions determine destiny". I would like to take this one step further to say that our decisions we make can shape us for eternity. If eternal life is our ultimate goal, then choices we make should have this fin the forefront of all our actions. There is an old hymn that says, in part, "God will force no man to Heaven". He has given us the ability to choose for ourselves. This is one of the greatest gifts given to us, as mortals. He does this because we must be tested to show that we are willing to follow Him, no matter what. By putting our trust in Him, we can make choices which will shape us for eternity.

I wrote a piece of music a while ago, and initially called it, "My Family Eternal". However it has evolved as words came into my mind that fit so perfect with that tune. It is my hope that I can get it recorded, words and music together. But until then, please listen to the music and the words which talk of choices.

Choose Eternity - Richard L. Graham (c) 2013

There are choices we must face each day on the path of mortality.
Each decision made with Father's help, can shape us for eternity.
If we seek His guidance and His will,
the path to go is clear:

(Chorus)

There are many choices we must face, when it seems no help can be found.
We are left to choose the path to take and to consequences bound.
We are tested by our loving God,
To prove we will be true.

(Chorus)

If we choose the path our Savior trod; its the path of humility.;
"Not my will, O Lord but thine be done" and give service willingly.
So we make our choices with His help,
To live eternally

(Chorus)
Let us put our trust in Him, who answered His Father's call
Who suffered for our stumbling deeds; who atoned for us all.
If we choose with this in mind
True happiness, we'll find.

(Finale)

And the choice is clear to me
I will gladly, gladly choose eternity!
