Is beauty truth? Is truth beauty? In the eye of the beholder? Skin deep? A horse? BYU Women’s Services is calling for essays by women of all backgrounds exploring your idea of beauty. They are looking for your voices of truth about beauty for their campaign called, “Recapturing Beauty,” whose aim is to reshape our attitudes and ideas about beauty propagated by popular culture. Essays will be included in a book published by BYU Women’s Services. Please consider these questions and ideas as you write:

1. What does it mean to be a woman?
2. What would you tell your 13-year-old self or your 13-year-old daughter about your/her body, beauty, and worth?
3. Write a letter to your body.

Essays should be unique, personal and 300 – 800 words in length. Deadline is Tuesday, November 1st. Contact Brooke Beecher at brooke_beecher@byu.edu or go to the BYU Women’s Services page for more information.
