In honor of my friend Princess Alethea’s 35th birthday on 1/11/11, she has asked her friends to post pictures of themselves wearing tiara.

Her wish is my command.

I figured, if I’m going to be wearing a tiara in a picture, I’m not just going to make something out of aluminum foil or wire, or buy some cheap plastic tiara.  No, I’m going to go all out, and appear with the Grand Duchess Vladimir Tiara, which is a stunning example of late 19th century Russian jewelry craftsmanship.  It was smuggled out of Russia during the Bolshevik revolution.
