The government should not use the taxation system as a way to punish some and reward others. In an attempt at "social justice," the government has decided that they should (1) punish the rich by making them pay a much higher dollar amount and a much high percentage of their income and (2) reward the poor by making them pay a much smaller dollar amount and a much smaller percentage--sometimes zero.

Today, the government wants to discourage people from becoming rich. What if tomorrow a democrat congress decides to tax republicans more than democrats? What if a republican congress decides to tax democrats more than republicans? What if they decide to tax white people more than other races? What if they decided to tax one social demographic more than another? Where does it end?

We need to treat everyone equally. Everyone should pay the same percentage tax.

Taxes for higher income earners: Top income tax rate will be going to 39.6%, but with the phase-out of exemptions and mortgage deductions, the real tax rate is 42-44%. Then add the payroll tax of 15.3%. Some state income taxes are 10%. You get to the point where your next dollar earned will be taxed at 65% or more. And that's just income taxes. Then there are unemployment taxes, sales taxes (8.25% in California), gas taxes, estate taxes (55% next year), etc. This really discourages people from even working, let alone investing and risking in business.
