Having recently gotten married, I was browsing through one of my husband's family history books for the first time. It was fascinating learning about his ancestors (now that we're married does that make them my ancestors-in-law?) and reading about them, their experiences, and other events that occurred in their lives.

Reading over their records made me ponder the importance of doing genealogy and of writing our own personal family history. Keeping a journal is an important part of recording our personal histories including our experiences (temporal and spiritual), stories, trials, and day-to-day activities.

Just as our ancestors' records are treasures for us now, the records we keep will become family treasures and gems for our posterity.
