Have you ever wondered if there's life after death? Have you ever had a feeling within you that death just can't be the end, that there must be more to life? There is! Death is not the end, it's just a step forward in God's plan of happiness.

After we die there is a space of time before we are resurrected and brought before God for our final judgment. During this space of time our spirit (the living part of us that remains alive after our body dies) continues to live in a place called the Spirit World. The Spirit World is divided into two sections: Paradise and Prison. The first is where the righteous dwell and the latter is for the wicked:
"And then shall it come to pass, that the spirits of those who are righteous are received into a state of happiness, which is called paradise, a state of rest, a state of peace, where they shall rest from all their troubles and from all care, and sorrow.

"And then shall it come to pass, that the spirits of the wicked, yea, who are evil... shall be cast out into outer darkness; there shall be weeping, and wailing, and gnashing of teeth, and this because of their own iniquity, being led captive by the will of the devil" (Alma 40:12-13).
After Christ's death, but before His resurrection, His spirit was also in the Spirit World. While there He "preached unto the spirits in prison" (1 Peter 3:19). No, death is not the end, just a temporary stage of life before our spirit is once again reunited with our body.
