I’ve been the bishop of my ward now for a little over 4 1/2 years. In that time I have had several wonderful counselors. Just before my first anniversary as bishop, my second counselor died in a workplace accident. His wife has been an incredible example in strength as she’s dealt with being a single mother of 3 small children (at the time, all under the age of 10). I think one of her greatest strengths is the support she receives from her family. They are spread out around Canada and the US, but there are always a few of them who fly in for special occasions (baptisms, priesthood ordinations, etc).

This brings me to the purpose of this post. A couple of years ago, some family had flown up to attend the baptism of one of the children. This family had a bunch of kids (and have since added more to a total of 8!). The children of this family sang at the baptism. I can’t remember what song they sang, but we were all so amazed that such young people could sing so beautifully. The harmonization seemed perfect. It was truly inspiring.

It’s been a few years now, but three of those children are trying to break into the music industry. The Gardiner Sisters “come from a musical family that is passionate about music and the powerful positive influence it can have on almost anyone. Though each has a recognizable solo voice, it is hard to beat the unique blend that seems to come from Sister’s voices.”

The girls (Mandi is 13, Allie is 15, and Hailey is 16) have their own site and of course have some samples posted on Facebook, MySpace, and YouTube.

My favourite one is the acapella song that they sing in the YouTube video. They sound amazing!

I hope you don’t mind me sharing this on the blog. It’s just that I’m very impressed with the girls, and love to sing myself (although I’m not that good), and I figured I’d share this with all of you. In a way, I’m sure most of us like to see fellow Mormons make it “big”.

Good luck Gardiner Sisters!
