We had the wonderful opportunity to publish an article from Dan Ellsworth today. Dan was concerned about the potentially negative effect of social media influencers. A summary of his article is below:

The point of influencing others is to point them to God. Public influencers, especially around matters of faith, can be problematic when they value loud public activism, over quiet private ministering, in the insatiable quest for more likes.

Just like an emotional affair ends a relationship, we can have emotional affairs on God, when we care emotionally about something more than His word. Both influencers and those who follow them should listen to President Russell M. Nelson’s warning that a time will come when those who obey the Lord will be separated from those who don’t.

Separating yourself from an influencer whose content you enjoy, can be painful. But Christianity has always maintained that leaving spiritually destructive influences is necessary.
