In the wake of the Jussie Smollet fake hate crime, all and sundry are having fun making lists of all the prominent hate hoaxes lately. There are a lot.
There is some wisdom in the Doctrine and Covenants that we should remember.
And if any man or woman shall commit adultery, he or she shall be tried before two elders of the church, or more, and every word shall be established against him or her by two witnesses of the church, and not of the enemy; but if there are more than two witnesses it is better.
Love your enemies. But don’t trust them. Don’t take their word for it. All of the conservatives who fell for the Covington hoax were guilty of gullibly swallowing what their enemies said. Rank, rotting stupidity is not a gospel value.
The people shouting at you from the Great and Spacious Building don’t take your best interests to heart. They have no foundation. They are just noise. Pay them no mind.
