But behold, the residue of the wicked I have kept in chains of darkness until the judgment of that great day

-D&C 38:5.  Not a tame lion.

For all flesh is corrupted before me; and the powers of darkness prevail upon the earth, among the children of men, in the presence of all the hosts of heaven–

Which causeth silence to reign, and all eternity is pained

-D&C 38:11-12. Darkness, but we withstand it In the presence of all the hosts of heaven . . .

O ye my people, ye whom I delight to bless with the greatest of all blessings

-D&C 41:1

As ye have assembled yourselves together according to the commandment wherewith I commanded you, and are agreed as touching this one thing, and have asked the Father in my name, even so ye shall receive.

-D&C 42:1

And the Spirit shall be given unto you by the prayer of faith; and if ye receive not the Spirit ye shall not teach

-D&C 42:14

Thou shalt love thy wife with all thy heart, and shalt cleave unto her and none else.  And he that looketh upon a woman to lust after her shall deny the faith, and shall not have the Spirit; and if he repents not he shall be cast out

Thou shalt not commit adultery.

-D&C 42:22-25.  When I re-read old General Conferences, I notice how well they were preparing us for the continuing storm of the Sexual Cultural Revolution.  I have the same sensation in reading these verses.  We have known for a long time where the attack was coming.  People who complain that the prophets spend too much time talking about sex and neglecting the rest of the gospel probably have a guilty conscience that is amplifying that part of the prophet’s message, but even so, isn’t their complaint like a soldier in a castle grumbling that the castellan keeps rushing reinforcements just to the part of the wall that is under attack?

The commandments here are sex-specific.  We know from experience that women also are prey to the sins of lust prettified under the names of self-fulfillment and eat, pray, love.  But this particular section is a revelation given to the assembled elders of the restored Church of Jesus Christ.
