Education-Announcement3-2017

Today, the First Presidency announced the creation of a global higher-education organization, BYU–Pathway Worldwide (BYU–PW). The institution will have responsibility for all online certificate and degree programs offered by the Church Educational System (CES).

Pathway was created to make college educational opportunities available to those who otherwise would not have them. Pathway is a bridge into the world of online college education and a pathway to opportunities for a successful livelihood. The program combines online learning with religious education in local institutes or meetinghouses in an environment of faith, grounded in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Although the program was designed for traditional college-age students who for some reason didn’t enroll or stopped attending college for various reasons, students of all ages are responding by enrolling in the Pathway program. Half of the Pathway student body is age 31 or older.
