“Hath he not read the record which our fathers brought across the great deep? Behold, is there not an account concerning them of old, that they by their secret plans did obtain kingdoms and great glory?”

There’s a lot in this half verse to unpack that really stood out to me

1) The Jaredites were record keepers and aware of scriptural and, perhaps, other historical accounts from the old world. We should be grateful for that, because we have this account as a result.

2) The jaredite forefathers knew, like Nephi and Lehi knew, that bringing a historical record across the ocean would be vital for uniting a people. They chose to use some of their, likely limited, space on the barges to carry across records. That illustrates the importance of those records.

3) Writing and focusing on the occult and Satanic can have a perverse impact of causing the curious or mischievous to seek out those taboo things. That’s partially what happens here.

4) Satan’s modus operandi from the start has been deception. Through his deception he gained great power over earthly kingdoms. He obtained great temporal glory. And he promises the same to all that follow. But Satan’s possession are hollow. We can see in this account, that his followers gain power only to quickly lose it again. In the more significant eternal sense, Satan’s hold on this world is likewise temporary. The rightful king will return and take the world from Satan’a grasp. And Satan’s kingdoms will crumble.
