The Church set up youth programs for young men as early as 1875. Scouting began in England in 1907 and spread to the United States in 1910. After investigating its potential, the Church formally joined with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) on May 21, 1913. The original charter was signed on June 9, 1913.
