My previous post linked to a significant 1997 article by Kevin Barney that revealed the presence in the Book of Mormon of a recently recognized traditional element of ancient Hebrew poetry, word pairs. There are several other good resources that you might enjoy, especially if you are interested in understanding or appreciating the Book of Mormon. A few more suggestions:

• James T. Duke, The Literary Masterpiece Called the Book of Mormon (Cedar Fort, Springville, UT, 2004). Chapter 13, "Word Pairs and Distinctive Word Combinations" builds upon Barney's work. See also his shorter article, "Word Pairs and Distinctive Combinations in the Book of Mormon," Journal of Book of Mormon Studies, vol. 12, no. 2, pp. 32-41, 2003. (The link is to a PDF file; there is also an HTML version without the important tables of word pairs.) Duke provides extensive helpful background information and many new insights.
• Steven Sondrup, "The Psalm of Nephi: A Lyric Reading" (BYU Studies, 1981) (click on the "Psalm of Nephi" link on the lower right side to select and display this article).
• FAIRMormon: Book of Mormon/Evidences/Poetic forms - a good collection of resources.
