MACHESNEY PARK, Illinois | 26 Jun 2008 | Spending a Friday evening filling sandbags isn't typical for a teenager. But last Friday, for one youth group, it was the most fun they had in a long time. These were just a few of the many volunteers who helped a flooded community. More than 150 members from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints answered the call to serve the Machesney Park residents affected by the Rock River flooding.
