Monson (@ThomasSMonson) posted his first Tweet: “Love is the very essence of the gospel, and Jesus Christ is our Exemplar.”

Elder M. Russell Ballard (@BallardMRussell) was the first apostle to post a Tweet back in May. Two days later, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland (@HollandJeffreyR) posted his first tweet.

Update September 26, 2014: Elder Oaks (OaksDallinH) has posted his first tweet.

Over the last few years, Twitter users have used the subject tag #ldsconf when tweeting information about LDS General Conference. In Twitter language, these subject tags are called hashtags. (Learn more about the #ldsconf hashtag.)

Also, add the hashtag #Christian along with #ldsconf. Using it will help your tweet or post be seen by more than just the LDS community. It could cause #Christian to trend, and that could really help more people see the messages about conference.

Here are two other hashtags you may want to consider using when tweeting or when posting on Google+:

#last6months: posts about how your life has changed since last conference)

#next6months: posts about how you want your life to change over the next 6 months

The article “10 Tips for Tweeting #LDSConf on Twitter” has some good ideas.

And remember the words of President Dieter F. Uchtdorf from the April 2011 General Conference:

With so many social media resources and a multitude of more or less useful gadgets at our disposal, sharing the good news of the gospel is easier and the effects more far-reaching than ever before. In fact, I am almost afraid that some listening have already sent text messages like “He’s been speaking for 10 minutes and still no aviation analogy!” My dear young friends, perhaps the Lord’s encouragement to “open [your] mouths” might today include “use your hands” to blog and text message the gospel to all the world! But please remember, all at the right time and at the right place.

Note: Many users of Twitter, Google+, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, and Tumblr use the keywords #lds and #mormon to flag content about the Church throughout the year.
