5 And whosoever will hearken unto my words and repenteth and is baptized, the same shall be saved. Search the prophets, for many there be that testify of these things.
The Savior’s declaration here that the prophets testified of him is particularly striking. Not only did the prophets knows generally of a savior, they knew specifically of Christ and the sacred ordinances he established such as baptism. We are fortunate to live during the restoration and have additional witnesses of the truth of the Savior’s words. In particular we have the Book of Mormon itself as well as the Books of Moses and Abraham which show that the Prophets and Patriarchs of old knew Christ just as we do. This true is one of the revolutionary messages of the Book of Mormon, and here the savior himself declares it with startling clarity.
