10 Do not suppose, because it has been spoken concerning restoration, that ye shall be restored from sin to happiness. Behold, I say unto you, wickedness never was happiness.

This verse teaches another profound but often forgotten truth. Namely, we can never find happiness when living in sin. As long as we cling to our sinful desires and our pride, we can never truly be redeemed. Those sins and lusts are tethers holding us down to sin and misery.

We only can progress when we have a desire to lose the improper and unrighteous desires of the heart. If we do not believe that we need to change, then we cannot. God will not force us to change. The desire must arise from within us. Only if we want it to apply can the atonement of Christ have its ultimate cleansing power on our souls.
