Ammon’s psalm of rejoicing is absolutely incredible. There is so much to celebrate in this beautiful chapter.

1) I love how Ammon describes the opposition that they felt when they wanted to preach to the Lamanites. Just as in the time of Zeniff, many of the Nephites simply wanted to kill the Lamanites. But the sons of Mosiah knew of God’s matchless power to redeem the fallen. They had faith in the atonement and saw the Lamanited as fellow sons of God. This faith was ultimately well placed and transformational

2) Ammon’s description of the joy they felt rings true to me. I’ve probably never felt greater joy than as a missionary when those I loved and cared about entered the waters of baptism. That joy is perhaps only matched by the birth of a child. There is little comparable to the joy of helping someone come to know Christ.

3) Ammon’s psalm is also a phenomenal example of reverent worship. He is overcome with his reverence and deep admiration for the matchless power of God. “Yea, who can say too much of his great power, and of his mercy, and of his long-suffering towards the children of men?” What an inspiring faith Ammon had.
