2 Do ye not remember that I said unto you that after ye had received the Holy Ghost ye could speak with the tongue of angels? And now, how could ye speak with the tongue of angels save it were by the Holy Ghost?
3 Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ. Wherefore, I said unto you, feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.
4 Wherefore, now after I have spoken these words, if ye cannot understand them it will be because ye ask not, neither do ye knock; wherefore, ye are not brought into the light, but must perish in the dark.

One of the unique concepts in these verses is the notion that angels “speak the words of Christ” through the Holy Ghost. I don’t think we often fully consider that when the Holy Ghost speaks to us, we are hearing the voice and will of the savior for us. It seems to me that we would respond much less casually to the promptings of the spirit if we remembered that when he speaks, it is as if the savior speaks. If Christ appeared before us and told us to do something, I don’t think we would diddle and vacillate. We would be quick to hearken. So why aren’t we just as quick to hearken to the promptings of the spirit?

At the start of the past few chapters, Nephi made it clear that he would speak so plainly that none could misunderstand. Here, Nephi is declaring that he has done so successfully. If you read his writings carefully and prayerfully you can know exactly what you need to do. That is how all of us should be when teaching our family or friends. We need to make the doctrine of Christ unmistakeably clear. It is then left to others to decide how to react. If they prayerfully ask and knock the truth shall be opened to them. Otherwise the way forward shall be foreclosed to them.
