If you are into simple for your scripture study and want to ponder a bite at a time, “LDS Daily Verse,” an iOS app that won top honors for the People’s Choice Award in the 2015 App & Game contest, is a perfect fit. Versions are available for all your iOS devices including Apple Watch.

Hilton Campbell, the author and developer, has packed a lot of simple into one little app that does a great job delivering content. It is an excellent source of inspirational content, and travels with you anywhere.

Hilton said, “People tell us they have a hard time studying the scriptures every day… LDS Daily Verse reminds them every morning or every night with a bite-size scripture. It becomes a launching pad to study the scriptures in more depth and fits into busy lives.”

So what’s so special about LDS Daily Verse? First, the interface is simple, but there’s more to it than that. The app runs as a subscription service for a nominal fee, and each day you open it, it presents you with a different scripture. The scriptures delivered are carefully curated from an aggregation of quoted scriptures from general conference talks both current and historical. More weight is given to scriptures quoted most often, and there is enough variety to keep you anticipating new content every day.

If you miss a day, you can backtrack using a calendar icon at the top. As long as your subscription is active, you don’t need to be connected to the Internet to use the app.

The star icon in the header lets you add passages to a favorites list, and you can use the share icon (box with an up-arrow) to post to social media, send via email, or do any number of things you’ve set up for sharing on your iOS device.

The Settings menu has an option to contact the developer with feedback. When you subscribe to a newsletter you will be informed of software updates and other product offerings.

If you want some context for the scripture presented (while connected to Wi-Fi), click on the reference link at the bottom of the scripture quote and it will open the online scriptures from LDS.org. From the online scriptures, you will see the verse highlighted within the entire chapter. From the online scriptures you can sign in with your LDS Account and add a tag or annotation. You’ll see your annotations in “Notes” in your My Account settings at LDS.org.

If you would like to try out the app before deciding to purchase the subscription, you are offered a short trial period to check it out and see if you like it. Chances are, it will simply fit your lifestyle!
