Area Technology Specialists Thursday & Friday at 11:00 am by Paul Scherbel

Audience would include: stake technology specialists, clerks, stake presidents, high councilmen, bishoprics, Sunday School presidencies, librarians, local unit leaders, teachers, and potential missionaries.

As the Church uses more technology in ministering, teaching, and administering...

there is a greater need for members and leaders to understand, adopt, and effectively use technology tools the Church is providing. To meet this need, the Church has created new senior missionary positions around the world called Area Technology Specialists to assist with Church technology that spans multiple stakes or districts. Area technology specialists (ATSs) ensure that local Church units have a sufficient number of stake or district technology specialists called and help to train and support them. They may also support General Authorities, area offices, or facilities management groups with additional technology needs. This class will discuss the need and opportunity for these positions in detail, help people to know if they or someone they know may be a good fit, and how to prepare to be an ATS.

Future of Universal Search on LDS.org and Beyond Thursday and Friday at 2 p.m. by Tyler Dalton & Mark Ward

As the Church moves to combine public search technologies with internal requirements, the need to meet user expectations grows. This panel will discuss the strategic and tactical direction being taken to effectively meet external needs through a universal and contiguous user experience, while presenting results in a way to maximize department information exposure.
