Something primary is chief in importance. Teaching children is of primary importance in the Church and that's why the Primary program exists.
My husband and I have a family tradition of going to other church's special Christmas programs every year. I was astonished to discover that, in some churches, children are not included in the main worship service. Children are either segregated to a particular area in the main chapel or expected to go to other rooms for more specialized instruction during this main meeting time.
