This is going to be short, but feel it needs to be said. I was trying out the newest update to my scriptures app. One of the things that was really broke in the previous version was the search function. So, I wanted to see if it works (that is the beta-tester in me). I typed the word 'DOG' in the search. And I was appalled at what I read. Not because the search didn't work - it works fine, but what the general scriptures had to say about the subject 'DOG'
  • Thus saith the Lord, In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick thy blood, even thine. (1 Kings 21:19)
  • They return at evening: they make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city.
  • Behold, they belch out with their mouth: swords are in their lips: for who, say they, doth hear?
  •  (Psalms 59:6-7)
  • As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.
  •  (Proverbs 26:11)
  • For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. (Revelation 22:15)
  • But behold, in one day it was left desolate; and the carcasses were mangled by dogs and wild beasts of the wilderness.
  • (Alma 16:10)
Doesn't sound anything like my dog. In my Lessons learned from our dog post, I commented on the positive attributes and I will stick with them.

Now to my point. The scriptures are given to man as a guide. One can read snippets from the holy scriptures and can make our loving God into a 'great and terrible God'. We cannot and should not  be judge, jury and executioner to a book based on one sentence, one paragraph, one chapter. Thankfully we have living authors of the truth who help clarify and simplify those things.
