This is another post in our BYU student letters series. This letter comes from Tela, and is written to her little sister. She writes, “She and I endured a near-death experience last February & we learned a lot.”

Hey there, Gina! In my Book of Mormon class, we have to do sort of like a weekly report on what we read, and how it applies to our lives and what we learned. This week, we read in Helaman (specifically chapters 5 through 12). Anyway, when we were discussing it in class, I felt impressed to share some of the things I learned, with you. So! Sit back, relax, and bear with me for a bit, okay? In Chapter 3, verse 29 and 30, it reads that:

“Yea, we see that whosoever will may lay hold upon the word of God, which is quick and powerful, which shall divide asunder all the cunning and the snares and the wiles of the devil, and lead the man of Christ in a strait and narrow course across that everlasting gulf of misery which is prepared to engulf the wicked. And land their souls, yea, their immortal souls, at the right hand of God in the kingdom of heaven, to sit down with Abraham, and Issaac, and with Jacob, and with all our holy fathers, to go no more out.” Later, in verse 32, it talks about how there was great peace and joy with the people that lived according to this.

Well, Gina, this got me thinking of you and how it has not been easy for us this last year. Remember how Papa always tells us that when you are living your best, that is when you are Satan’s biggest threat, and therefore you are also his biggest target? Gina, you are SUCH a blessing in other people’s lives. This is why the Lord preserved you on that scary day of our accident. You teach me how to laugh, joke, and love. Since you make others better, you are one of Satan’s BIGGEST threats (no surprise, right?). Remember that you can endure anything as long as you keep your faith in the Lord. We know what He’s capable of, so all we need to do is just remember. :) I love you Gina and I hope you have a GREAT WEEK! Remember who you are and remember how precious you are in the eyes of others. Love you so much!

~Tela
