If you thought this weekend was all about Independence Day, think again! Today, July 2, marks another cause for reflection — it’s the exact midpoint of the year. We’ve made it through 182 days in 2011, and we’ve got another 182 to go.

Time flies, right? Or have the days of 2011 been dragging on for you? I’m always intrigued by the variety I find in my own perceptions of time. That hour and a half I spent in traffic last week felt like an eternity. My family’s upcoming week at the beach will surely pass in the blink of an eye. My 45-minute spin class this morning felt like it took about double the normal time. And now, at the exact halfway point of 2011, I’m wondering where the days have gone?

Like the first day of a new year, today is a great time to evaluate what I’ve accomplished in the last six months and what I can do to improve during the remaining days of 2011. I’m on track with all the 2011 rules I set for myself, but what about the big picture? Am I in a better place spiritually than I was on January 1? Have I progressed in my career? Are my relationships stronger than before? It’s surely a busy Saturday for most of us, but I hope to take a few minutes today to think about where I’ve been and where I’m headed.

How about you? Is time passing you by, or do you find ample moments to soak up every day? Has the year, so far, been what you’ve expected?
