For Christians around the world, it’s Holy Week. What can we do to keep our thoughts focused on the Savior this week as we prepare to celebrate Easter? Following are some resources that we wanted to share.

We also invite you to share what you do to celebrate Easter and to keep Jesus Christ at the center of the celebration.

Mormon.org’s page on Facebook is sharing something each day to remember what happened during the week of Christ’s death and resurrection. This actually began on Saturday, with the video “An Apostle’s Easter Thoughts on Christ” — a moving video to reflect on all the Savior has done. They also share the following information about the 8th day before Easter:

[I]n preparation for Passover only six days away, many people visited Jerusalem to offer sacrifices at the temple. Jesus walked to Bethany, a nearby village, and stayed five nights with his friends Lazarus, Mary, and Martha. It was during this time Mary anointed Jesus’s feet with oil. John 12:1-3

Here are a couple of links to blogs from Mormons who have provided some ideas and resources to help us prepare for Easter:

-This post at becominglds.blogspot.com shares several resources for helping children remember the reason we celebrate Easter.

This “Preparing for Easter” resources list at LDS Media Talk might also be of interest.

We’ve posted an activity to help children understand the Easter message here at Mormon Women as well.

Here’s a CNN blog post explaining how some Mormons like to connect the Old Testament with the New before Easter by having a Seder dinner.

Tomorrow, we’ll be posting about more of the performances found at different LDS Church locations (such as the Easter oratorio in the Bay Area at the Interstake Center located by the Oakland LDS Temple — which oratorio will also be held on Easter Sunday at Cathedral of Christ the Light, Catholic Diocese of Oakland). We invite people of all denominations to share what Holy Week events you enjoy and/or think others might be interested in.

Also keep an eye out for another Linky invitation to share from your personal blogs what you do to celebrate Easter. (If you don’t have a blog, please feel free to comment or send us something we can share at ‘mormonwoman’ found at ‘gmail’ dot ‘com’)

Read more about how Mormons celebrate Easter here. (Short answer: We don’t have formalized Holy Week activities, but the post explains various ways members of the Church may choose to prepare their minds and hearts for Easter — and how we typically celebrate Easter Sunday in our church meetings. It’s worth noting that the most important part of the sacrament service we hold every week at church is to remember the Savior’s atoning sacrifice, to sing hymns of praise to God and to His Son, and to recommit ourselves to following the Savior.)
