The Church News & Events web site announced a new Institute manual traditionally aimed at college students but relevant for anyone:
The Church has released its first full-color manual, Teachings of the Living Prophets. The manual is an update to the previous version, first printed 29 years ago, which was used specifically for the seminary and institute programs. The new manual has been designed to emphasize the importance of modern prophets, describe the role of the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and explain succession in the Presidency.
The article provides a link for downloading the PDF. I'm a big fan of Preach My Gospel and this new manual is structured like it. This means it has a colorful, interesting layout and many nice features. Of course, all institute manuals are available for downloading. This new edition of Teachings of the Living Prophets is a nice addition to the group

The manual can also be purchased from the Online Store at this link. The article does not mention that there is also an instructor's guide that can be purchased. Find it at this link.

What's really exciting is that there are plans to keep the manual updated:
Initial plans are being made to regularly update the manual—first on the web and later in print—by listening and carefully studying general conference addresses by the Brethren to identify material that might either replace existing, older material, or be included as additional knowledge and information,
There is no reason for materials to become outdated anymore given they can be constantly updated online.

It is nice to see this feature being rolled out in official sources since some unofficial sources like The Encyclopedia of Mormonism have already implemented constant updating.
