There’s a Russian astronomy site for kids called “Astronomy Kids,” apparently run by a school in Moscow. They have a page where they list the best science fiction works for their users to read. The list of works by non-Russian writers is (as translated into English by Google):

  • Jules Verne – novels “From the Earth to the Moon,” “Around the Moon”
  • HG Wells – the novel “First Men in the Moon”
  • Isaac Asimov – stories about the space ranger Lucky Starr
  • Stanislaw Lem – stories about the pilot Pearkes
  • Robert Heinlein – novel “Rocket ship Galileo,” “I have the space suit, ready to travel”
  • Francis Karsak – novel “Robinson Space”, “Escape Earth”
  • NEW Eric James Stone – story, “Adjustment orientation”
  • Stories of Arthur C. Clarke, Robert Sheckley, Clifford Simak, Herbert Franke and others

“Корректировка ориентации,” the Russian translation of my story “Attitude Adjustment,” came out in the June 2010 issue of ESLI magazine. Obviously, someone at Moscow School Number 179 was a fan. I feel very privileged to be placed in such great company.

For your Russian reading pleasure, I have obtained the rights to publish the translation on my site (HTML|PDF).  Even if you don’t read Russian, you can still appreciate the wonderful illustration by Sergei Shehov. (There was no illustration when the story first appeared in Analog.)

The Astronomy Kids site also wrote up a little bio for me and linked to my website, since they noticed I don’t have a Wikipedia entry.
