You know, I think the most interesting thing about the announcement yesterday for the iPhone 4 is the new FaceTime video conference app. If anything “changes everything” it is this to me. This is the first step in what I hope will be many, many carriers bringing real video conferencing to the masses.

Now think about that in the context of church… I did all of my EQ presidency meetings virtually because I worked with a group of tech saavy brethren, but we just used a conference call number and collaborated on google docs… imagine if we could actually see each other in a video conference. I think we are a while away, but maybe meetings could actually be virtual.

Now imagine that shut-in member who can’t make it to work, but has a video conference phone. A loving home teacher at church could easily record church and stream it to them… I imagine it won’t be long before they can hook the video chat up to a multi-streaming app like UStream. Sure there will be concerns from folks before that is allowed, but there is some possibility there.

I got rid of my iPhone about 6 months ago for the Droid and am very happy with it… but today I just a little jealous… but I’m sure it won’t be long…
