During the Saturday morning session of the 179th Semiannual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, President Thomas S. Monson announced plans to build five new LDS temples which will be located in:
  1. Brigham City, Utah
  2. Concepción, Chile
  3. Fortaleza, Brazil
  4. Ft. Lauderdale, Florida
  5. Sapporo, Japan
There are currently 130 working temples with another 16 in the planning or construction phase. With the addition of these five new temples there are now 21 temples in the process of completion making a total of 151 temples worldwide.
