Prayer is one of the most powerful tools we have in this life- it is how we communicate with God. After the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ He appeared unto the people who lived on the American Continent. During His time with them He taught the people the importance of prayer:

"Behold, verily, verily, I say unto you, ye must watch and pray always lest ye enter into temptation; for Satan desireth to have you, that he may sift you as wheat.

"Therefore ye must always pray unto the Father in my name;

"And whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, which is right, believing that ye shall receive, behold it shall be given unto you.

"Pray in your families unto the Father, always in my name, that your wives and your children may be blessed" (3 Nephi 18:18-21).

Satan does want us, he wants to destroy us, and one of the ways he tries to destroy us is to keep us from praying.

"For if ye would hearken unto the Spirit which teacheth a man to pray ye would know that ye must pray; for the evil spirit teacheth not a man to pray, but teacheth him that he must not pray.

"But behold, I say unto you that ye must pray always..." (2 Nephi 32:8-9).

Learn how to pray to God in the name of Christ, and then make the choice to pray to Him always, "that you may come off conqueror; yea, that you may conquer Satan, and that you may escape the hands of the servants of Satan that do uphold his work. " (D&C 10:5).
